Google Drive Direct Download Link Generator
Enter a Google Drive file ID to open its download URL. This Blogger-safe version uses a standard form and requires no API key, JavaScript library, or third-party service.
Privacy: submitting this form sends the file ID directly to Google Drive in a new tab. This website does not store or process it.
How to Create a Google Drive Direct Download Link
- In Google Drive, open the file's sharing settings.
- Under General access, choose the audience that should be able to open the file. Select Anyone with the link only when public access is appropriate.
- Copy the file-sharing link. In a URL formatted as
drive.google.com/file/d/FILE_ID/view, identify the text between/d/and/view. - Paste that file ID into the field above and select Open download link.
How to Find a Google Drive File ID
For a standard file-sharing URL, the file ID appears between /d/ and /view:
https://drive.google.com/file/d/FILE_ID/view?usp=sharing
For an older link formatted as drive.google.com/open?id=FILE_ID, copy the value after id=.
Google Docs, Sheets, and Slides require an export format, so their editor URLs are not converted. Google Drive folders also cannot be turned into a single direct file-download link.
Important Limitations
- The generated URL does not change the file's permissions. A restricted file still requires the correct Google account.
- The owner can disable downloading for viewers and commenters.
- Google may show a confirmation, virus-scan warning, preview, or sign-in page instead of starting the download immediately.
- Popular files can temporarily hit Google's download limits.
- For large-scale public distribution, use hosting designed for high download traffic rather than Google Drive.
